COELIAC AUSTRALIA GFAP AUDITS
Picture
The demand for gluten free meals is at an all-time high yet eating away from home is perhaps one of the biggest challenges faced by people with coeliac disease. It can be daunting and stressful for a person to find genuine gluten free options when eating outside the home.

The Coeliac Australia Gluten Free Accreditation Program ensures that the gluten free consumer can dine with confidence where they see the Trade Mark ‘GF’ symbol.
Accreditation is available for a wide range of food services businesses including:
  • Restaurants
  • Cafés
  • Bakeries
  • Butchers
  • Food trucks
  • Catering firms
NOTE: You do not have to be operating a 100% gluten free business to be eligible for accreditation (but you do need to have controls to eliminate cross contamination).
How to become accredited?
The accreditation process involves:
  • A detailed Document Review by a consultant dietitian
  • Training of front and back-of-house employees
  • Gluten free menu options undergo testing for gluten
  • An on-site audit by The Gourmet Guardian (on behalf of Coeliac Australia) before being licensed to use the Trade Mark ‘GF’ symbol

As part of the process, businesses also receive complimentary access to the Coeliac Australia Gluten Free Online Training module for two employees. Once accredited the licence is valid for 12 months and you will be provided with a listing on the Coeliac Australia Accredited Business page.
